In January, Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town revealed that her husband Stephen and their daughter Daisy Pearl had grown to a family of four through the gift of domestic adoption. During a recent interview session, the singer opened up about her sweet new baby, Dolly Grace, saying that it "was meant to be."

Schlapman and her husband announced Dolly Grace's arrival on Instagram in early January, at the time saying that “the New Year brought our family new love." When Schlapman recently spoke to Sounds Like Nashville and other media, she added, “I can just tell you that she’s a part of us. She just fits right into the puzzle of our family like it was always meant to be."

"Love has just grown and exploded, and the things that matter have become so much more apparent even than before," Schlapman continues. "She needed us, but we also needed her. I feel like it was ordained forever ago by God that we would all be together. I couldn’t be more grateful.”

Baby Dolly's big sister Daisy (nine years old) had been praying for a baby for quite some time, Schlapman reveals. And now that her prayers have been answered, she's "in heaven."

"She’s a little mama. She prayed for this baby every night when she said her prayers. She even asked Santa Claus for this baby. That’s pretty amazing also," Schlapman shares. "She loves and adores her. She kisses her all the time. She’s very happy.”

Country Music's Cutest Baby Bumps

As country fans may have guessed, Dolly's first name was indeed inspired by Dolly Parton, who "has inspired my whole life," says Schlapman; however, the name was her husband's idea.

“My husband is the one who thought [of it]," Schlapman reveals. "When we had hoped and prayed for this baby, this was my husband’s idea, so it’s perfect. I love it.”

Schlapman will get some downtime with her little loves for a few more weeks, and then, LBT's new album, The Breaker, will debut on Feb. 24. On the same date, the country quartet's residency at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium kicks off.

“Probably the greatest thing that’s ever happened to this band is being members of the Grand Ole Opry," Schlapman reflects, "and this goes hand in hand with that honor, to do the first residency. Places like the Ryman and the Opry, it’s just a chance for us to be a part of American history.”
