Just picture this...furniture and Swedish meatballs for everyone!

Ikea recently announced that they plan to open 8 new locations across the United States, spending a whopping $2 billion dollars in the process. They have not decided as of yet where the new stores will be, so as soon as I heard this news, it dawned on me that there is not an Ikea location here in the state of Maine.

As of right now, Ikea has 51 stores in America, the closest one near us, is in Stoughton, Massachusetts, which is about 40 minutes outside of Boston. Wouldn't it be cool if we had one here in the Bangor area? I can think of a few spots where it would fit right in. Not that we need any extra traffic on Stillwater Avenue, but it sure would be nice to have one here.

If you aren't familiar with the company, they design and sell ready-to-assemble furniture, kitchen appliances, decoration, home accessories, and various other goods and home services.

In addition to all the furniture, Ikea also features a restaurant & bistro. Although they primarily serve Swedish food, the menu varies based on the culture, food and location of each store.

You can also find breakfast, burgers, lingonberry bbq ribs, garlic lemon cod, wraps, salads and yummy deserts sold by branded Swedish that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture, kitchen appliances, decoration, home accessories, and various other goods and home services.

One good way to get their attention would be to send them a message.

Cross your fingers, and hope IKEA decides to set up shop somewhere in Maine!
