Here’s What You Need To Make In Order To Be Considered ‘Rich’ In Maine

Some have defined rich in our country as someone making about 2.4-million dollars a year. However, in Maine, you don't have to make quite that much to be considered rich.

What American's consider 'rich' and what the government considers as rich, are two different numbers. And those numbers vary from city to city throughout the states.

For example, what is considered to be rich in Seattle is about $100,000 more than what is considered to be rich in Detroit, Michigan.

The U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey, pooled 5-year estimate data to determine what would be considered rich in some of the bigger cities in each state.

When it came to Maine, of course, Portland was on the radar. With just over 66 thousand in population, the survey considered you rich if you make at least $96,518 per year.

Portland's median household earns about $48,259 a year, so if you earn close to $100,000, you're considered rich.

If you're like me, then it's pretty obvious we are not one of the rich ones in the Pine Tree State. But then again, you might be.
