Fire Destroys Two Buildings on Maine Street in Van Buren, Maine
Two buildings on Main Street in Van Buren were gutted by fire Sunday.
Firefighters from Van Buren, Grand Isle, Limestone and St. Leonard, New Brunswick responded around 9:30 a.m. to the fire at the old Hebert Rexall building and the Ezzy Insurance building.
The Van Buren Police Department said a section of Main Street was closed well into the afternoon while crews battled the blaze and traffic was rerouted.
Two tenants living in apartments on the second floor made it out safely but lost all their belongings.
Fiddlehead Focus reports one of the tenants taught martial arts from one of the storefronts and lost all of his equipment in the fire.
