Fatal, Single-Vehicle Crash in Litchfield, Maine

A 67-year-old Sabattus man was killed early Monday morning when his SUV struck a tree off Route 197 in Litchfield.

Trooper Erin James says Michael Oliver was killed instantly when his Chevrolet Blazer crossed the center line and slammed head on into a pine tree just off the opposite lane. The crash took place near Gowell’s Shop n’ Save  around 6:30 am.

Oliver was alone in the vehicle and was not wearing his seat belt. Trooper James said it did not appear that road conditions played a role in the crash.
