They analyzed recent mover search data on their platform, covering searches made between July 1, 2023, and March 3, 2024, with planned moves in 2024. Additionally, moveBuddha referenced January 2024 Zillow Home Value Index data and U.S. Census population estimates to provide context on home prices and population sizes.

According to moveBuddha and their study, ‘The Top City Everyone Wants to Move to in Every State in 2024,’ Maine’s largest city, Portland, is listed as one of the top 25 most desirable cities of the year.

Portland earned the top spot in moveBuddha’s 2024 study as the city everyone wants to move to in Maine.

The study highlighted Portland’s 2022 population estimate of 68,424, showcasing it as a mid-sized city with a desirable balance of urban amenities. Portland’s in-to-out move ratio stands at 1.41, indicating that significantly more people are moving in than out. Plus, as of January 2024, the median home price in Portland is $522,530, reflecting high demand in the housing market.
