In the world of storytelling, few names stand as distinctly apart as British Filmmaker Edgar Wright and Maine's Stephen King. Wright is known for his filmmaking, while King is the master of horror and suspense. But a chance encounter during Wright’s getaway to Maine became a story that was told on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Edgar Wright had traveled to Maine for what he described as a “reset break” to enjoy a trip to coastal Maine. While he was in Bangor, he visited several landmarks that were connected to Stephen King’s novels and stood on the sidewalk, back when Stephen King used to live there.

As Wright took photos, he noticed a man walking a dog along the sidewalk he was on, and jumped on Wright as the dog owner apologized.  Wright recognized his voice before his face and realized it was Stephen King taking his morning walk. The two had a 30-minute chat and bonded over their shared love of storytelling.

Before parting, King recommended a few lesser-known spots in Maine worth exploring, while Wright hinted that he might someday have to film in Maine.

Wright appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers in November, where he told the story of how the two met and are still close friends to this day. Needless to say, he was a bit star-struck at first, but he and his wife were invited to dinner at King's former home, and the security guards got a little concerned when he pulled into the driveway until King himself came out and said they were with him.
