E.D. Nurse Recognized at Cary Medical Center

A Cary Medical Center Emergency Department Nurse was recently recognized as being an Extraordinary Nurse.

Heather Pelletier has been honored as Cary's 2019 Daisy Award Recipient for Extraordinary Nurses. The award recognizes the super-human efforts that nurses perform every single day.

Cary Chief Nursing Officer, Paula Parent, says the hospital is proud to be among the healthcare organizations participating in the DAISY Award program. "Nurses are heroes every day.  It’s important that our nurses know their work is highly valued."

The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit and is based in Glen Ellen, CA, and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died in 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. He was 33. The care that Patrick received while he was ill inspired this special way of thanking nurses for the difference they make in the lives of their patients and families.

Nurses are nominated by patients, colleagues and patients' families. A Daisy Award recipient is then chosen by a team picked by the Chief Nursing Officer.
