Did you know that on this day in Country Music History in 1971 seven months after eloping to Mexico, George Strait  got re-married?

It's true! It was to wife Norma Voss in Texas to satisfy their parents.

• His first No. 1 country song was 1982's "Fool Hearted Memory." As of 2007, he has a total of 54 chart-toppers from his winning mix of honky-tonk and Western swing.
• He is a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
• In 1986, his 13-year-old daughter Jenifer was killed in a motorcycle crash. He dedicated his CMA Male Vocalist of the Year award that year to her memory.
• He made People's most beautiful list in 1990.
• He has acted in a handful of projects, including 1992's Pure Country in which he played a troubled country singer.
