Cole Swindell, Lauren Alaina Team Up for Jaw-Dropping Duet on Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ [Watch]
Lauren Alaina joined Cole Swindell live onstage at a recent show for a surprise duet on a Prince classic, and her performance not only impressed the crowd, but also Swindell himself.
Alaina is currently on the road with Swindell and Chris Janson for Swindell's 2018 Reason to Drink Tour, where she's winning over audiences across the U.S. with her powerhouse vocals. During a recent tour stop at Ryan Center in Rhode Island on March 3, Swindell asked the "Doin' Fine" singer to join him for a duet on his No. 1 hit, "Middle of a Memory." In awe of her pipes, at the close of the song Swindell tells the audience, "I can't let her leave yet!"
The two Georgians then launch into a memorable cover of Prince's "Purple Rain" where Alaina once again steals the show. As she belts the chorus, Swindell, visibly impressed, lifts his arms in the air and steps aside, saying, "I'm going to stand back."
“One of my favorite singers right here. She’s got two — not one but two — ACM nominations coming up in April," Swindell marvels. "Give it up for my favorite Georgia peach, Lauren Alaina!”

Alaina is nominated for New Female Vocalist of the Year in the 2018 ACM Awards, and she scored another nomination for Vocal Event of the Year for "What Ifs," her duet with Kane Brown. Fans turned to social media to rave about her performance with Swindell afterward.
Swindell's Reason to Drink Tour kicked off on Feb. 15 and runs through April. In a press release announcing the tour, the singer said he'll be taking the lessons he's learned as an opener and applying them to his new role as a headliner.
“I am excited to be able to take everything I have learned while on the road the last four years watching all that Luke [Bryan], Jason [Aldean], Kenny [Chesney], Dierks [Bentley], and [Florida Georgia Line's] Tyler [Hubbard] and Brian [Kelley] did as headliners,” Swindell says. "Everything from how they treat their fans, their high-energy performances, to how they treated everyone on the tour. They were great examples of how much work it takes for a successful tour. I can honestly say I’ve learned from the very best in the business."
