Office workers in America claimed ‘9 to 5’ by Dolly Parton as their unofficial theme song in 1980.  The song was recorded for the movie of the same name, in which Parton made her film debut, but was also part of her 9 to 5 and Odd Jobs album.  The song went to No.1 on this day on both the Billboard Country Chart and the Hot 100, making Parton the second woman to do so, the first being Jeannie C. Riley’s ‘Harper Valley PTA.’
