When Chris Stapleton takes the stage at the 2019 ACM Awards, someone very special will be watching from the audience. The country superstar's father-in-law will be on hand to see Stapleton perform a song they wrote together during the show.

The Tennessean reports that Stapleton will be performing his song "A Simple Song" during the 2019 ACM Awards. The song, from Stapleton's ACM-nominated From A Room, Vol. 2, was co-written by Stapleton and his father-in-law, Darrell Hayes, in Stapleton's own father's living room.

"One day, we were just talking about life and different things we've done," Stapleton shares, "and all the stuff in that song, it's all true stuff for one of us, so it's an interesting song that way."

Stapleton added to the Tennessean ahead of the 2019 ACM Awards that Hayes "[is] here with us, and he's going to sit out in the audience and watch us."

At the 2019 ACM Awards, in addition to being nominated for Album of the Year, as both the artist and a producer, Stapleton is nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year and Song of the Year (again, as both artist and producer). His six nominations make him one of the most-nominated artists of the night. Should he win all six, he'll tie the record for most ACM Awards wins in a single night, which he, Faith Hill and Garth Brooks all already hold.

The 2019 ACM Awards are set to take place in Las Vegas, Nev., on April 7, and air live on CBS beginning at 8PM ET; the ceremony will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
