ORIGINAL STORY:
NORTH YARMOUTH, Maine (AP) — Officials are awaiting identification of a body found near the home of teacher who disappeared days earlier in North Yarmouth.
The search for Kristin Westra was called off Friday when a body was found by children playing in the woods.
There was no confirmation the body was that of the missing teacher, but her husband posted on social media, "My heart was crushed today."
Her husband told police he awoke Monday morning to discover his 47-year-old wife was missing. He told the Portland Press Herald she had experienced anxiety and had a safety "assessment" before disappearing without her cellphone, keys or wallet.
Ed Gervais told the newspaper that his grandchildren found the body. Asked if the kids were OK, he said, "I hope so."
