This study reveals new statistics and information about infidelity and cheating, including how often it happens here in Maine.

Listen, we get it—cheating and infidelity can mean different things to different people, and what one person sees as crossing a line, another might not. That’s exactly what this study explores: people who say they’ve cheated or been cheated on, based on whatever that means in the context of their own relationships.

So, with that in mind, who put this study together to determine which states are most likely to cheat in a relationship—and what criteria did they use?

To explore which parts of the country are most affected by infidelity, NapLab surveyed over 1,600 Americans nationwide about their personal experiences with cheating. Their study aimed to identify patterns and highlight which states report the highest rates of cheating in relationships.

Alright, now that we've covered that, where does Maine rank in this study, and what are the specific details, stats, and percentages tied to our state?

According to the results from NapLab and their study ‘Which States Have the Most Infidelity?Maine ranks #8 for overall infidelity. In fact, 40% of respondents in Maine admitted to cheating, 93% said they’ve been cheated on, and 97% reported experiencing either or both.

It’s wild to think that even with 97% of Mainers saying they’ve experienced some form of cheating, our state still didn’t crack the top five.

NapLab continues by revealing that 100% of respondents in North Carolina, Alaska, and Kentucky reported experiencing infidelity—part of a nationwide trend where 89% say they’ve been involved in cheating in some way, 85% say they’ve been cheated on, and only 34% admit to doing the cheating themselves.
