Central Maine Man Dies in Fatal Fire
A 58-year-old Skowhegan man died Friday morning after a fire swept through his apartment, said the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Authorities found Douglas Barrett’s body in the kitchen of his two story apartment on Milburn Street. No one else was injured, said police.
Smoke and water damaged another apartment in the building. The fire occurred around 1:30 AM.
Fire Marshals asked State Police detectives to assist them in the investigation, but the fire is not considered suspicious. Barrett’s body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta for autopsy. Fire Marshals continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
