Body of Smithfield Man Pulled from Pond

Police are investigating after the body of a Smithfield man was pulled from East Pond late Wednesday night.

The Morning Sentinel reports 88-year-old Matthew Pratt was found just a few feet from his car, which was partially submerged.

The car doors were closed. Police say it's not clear yet what happened, but say it's not suspicious.

Pratt’s son called police Wednesday night as he had been unable since Tuesday to reach his father, who lives alone and had health issues.
