Body Found after House Fire in Maine
A body was found Sunday after a house fire on Maintenance Lane in Newfield.
Human Remains Found
“The homeowner, 39-year-old Kristofer Whittemore, may have been inside the residence at the time of the fire. A search of the debris led to the discovery of human remains,” said the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Autopsy and Identification
The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy and positive identification.
Fire Marshal Investigation
The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. The two-story house was a complete loss.
