A 73-year-old Fort Kent man escaped serious injury Thursday afternoon when the loaded dump truck he was driving went off the Caribou Road in Sinclair and rolled over.

Maine State Police responded to the crash shortly after 12:30 p.m.  The vehicle, a 2001 Sterling dump truck, was operated by Charles Perreault of Fort Kent, according to a news release from Sgt. Jeffery Clark.

Mr. Perreault told police he was traveling north with a load of hot top when his right front tire blew, causing him to lose control.The dump truck went off the roadway and into a ditch, rolled over and landed on its roof.

Perreault sustained minor injuries and was cleared by Ambulance Service Inc.  Police say he was wearing his seat belt.

Trooper Nathan Desrosier investigated the crash. Maine DEP was also on the scene. The dump truck is owned by Desjardin’s Logging Inc. of Wallagrass.
