According to a survey from the Governor's Energy Office, heating oil prices have risen 9 percent since the heating season began in October, to an average price of $2.44 a gallon.

More than a third of the nation's refining capacity was affected by Hurricane Harvey back in late August and this price rise comes shortly after that event

The highest price for heating oil was found, not surprisingly, here in northern Maine with an average price of $2.54. The lowest price of $2.42 a gallon was found in the central, southwest and western parts of the state.

Meanwhile, the average price of kerosene statewide was $3.05. Propane had an average price of $2.73.
