Maine’s Best Black Friday Deals are at These 8 Stores
If you're looking to take full advantage of Black Friday without leaving Maine – because who wants to fight the crowds in Boston, am I right? Honestly, we’re looking pretty good when it comes to scoring big Black Friday deals this year.
Now to be fair, I’m all about supporting local. That said, I highly recommend seeing what your local shops have to offer on Black Friday. These, however, are the big stores that likely aren’t too far off the beaten path for you if you live in Maine.
WalletHub recently analyzed over 4,300 Black Friday deals from the 2024 ads of 13 major U.S. retailers. 8 of them happen to be here in Maine. These are the stores with the biggest advertised discounts.
#1: JCPenney
My friends love to tease me for shopping at Penney’s... Why wouldn’t I? They’ve got name-brand stuff for cheap. It’s the best-kept secret— I feel like they’ve got an undeserved rep for being a “store for seniors” or something. This year, their average discount is expected to be 76%. You’re thinking about it now, aren’t you?
#2: Macy’s
Macy’s has been pulling some serious weight on Black Friday for years. Expect discounts of about 57%—and that’s a pretty sweet chunk off those designer goods you’ve been eyeing.
#3: Kohl’s
Okay, I’m always a big fan of shopping Kohl’s over the holidays. Not only do they have some solid deals, but let’s not forget about the Kohl’s Cash. They practically pay you to buy stuff when you’re already getting huge discounts. This year’s Black Friday deals are averaging 43%.
#4: Walmart
Walmart’s Black Friday deals are about as legendary as their chaotic in-store crowds. But, if you can make it out without losing your mind, expect some serious savings. Whether you’re hunting for electronics, toys, whatever, they’ve got you covered at an average of a 38% discount.
#5: Home Depot
If you’ve got a DIYer in the family (or you just want a new power tool for yourself), Home Depot’s got deals worth checking out. Home improvement essentials are averaging about 32% off the sticker price so you’ll find discounts that make those renovation projects a little easier on the wallet. I feel like this is the perfect store to treat yourself on Black Friday.
#6: BJ’s
You might not think of BJ’s as a Black Friday spot, but hey—if you’re looking to stock up on everything from toilet paper to electronics, their bulk deals will save you even more cash as their discounts this year are averaging at about 29%. Plus, maybe they will be handing out some pizza roll samples or something. That will keep you going strong while you shop.
#7: Target
You can’t go wrong with Target on Black Friday. Yup, the store that’s basically a tradition to go in for one thing and leave with five. Expect average discounts of about 29%.
#8: Best Buy
If you’re into tech, Best Buy is your best friend on Black Friday. As usual, they’ll have discounts on everything from TVs to laptops, just don’t expect to snag any CDs or DVDs – it’s not 2004 anymore.
