Bangor Pedestrian Hospitalized After Being Hit By A Car
Bangor Police say a pedestrian suffered serious injuries when they were hit by a car on Union Street.
Police Were Called to Union Street in Bangor Early Tuesday Morning
The accident happened in the area of Sanford and Second Streets, on Union Street in Bangor at approximately 6:00 Tuesday morning. When officers arrived, they found a person lying in the roadway, who had been hit by a car. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
The Driver Told Investigators They Couldn't Avoid the Collision
Bangor Police say the driver of the car involved in the crash is cooperating with the investigation. They told officers the pedestrian had stepped off the sidewalk and into the path of the car, with no time for the driver to avoid hitting them.
Bangor Police Have Not Released the Names of the Pedestrian or Driver
A portion of Union Street was closed to traffic for several hours Tuesday morning, while police cleared the scene. Now, investigators are looking into video footage from several angles to get a clearer picture of how the crash happened. The names of the people involved have not been released. At this point, police say no charges have been filed.
