"Spaulding reportedly possessed a firearm, however he made no threats against anyone, other than himself. He fled the residence before police could arrive, and was last seen headed south along the Kennebec River Rail Trail."

Authorities did find Spaulding's vehicle but he was nowhere to be found. Unfortunately, they have had to shut down the area around where he was last seen, as they err on the side of extreme caution in this situation.

"The Kennebec River Rail Trail is currently closed. No crimes were committed on the rail trail, however this was the last known direction of travel that Spaulding took."

Chief Lully says that anyone who knows where Spaulding is or might be, should call the Augusta Police Department.

Their number is 207-626-2370, ext 0.
