
23-Year-Old Critically Injured after Motorcycle Crash in Maine
A 23-year-old man was critically injured after a motorcycle crash in Pownal.
Crashed Trying to Pass Vehicle
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said Joseph Vallee from Poland was riding his Kawasaki Ninja “at a high rate of speed” on Elmwood Road when he tried to pass a vehicle on a blind corner over a hill. He lost control and crashed into a tree.
Critically Injured
Vallee was in critical condition and taken to Maine Medical Center.
Primary Factors for Crash
“Speed and reckless driving appear to be the primary factors leading to the crash,” said the Sheriff’s Office. Vallee was wearing a helmet.
Road was Closed
The road was closed for almost three hours. The crash investigation is ongoing.
Multi-Agency Response
Assisting the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office was the Freeport Fire Department, the Pownal Fire Department and the Gorham Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit.
