Friday,  June 6    

The Presque Isle Historical Society is hosting a guided walking tour through historic Fairmount Cemetery.  The 1 1/2 hour tour begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Civil War Monument in the cemetery at 2 Houlton Road. Weather permitting.   Free parking is available across the street in the Chamber of Commerce parking lot.  Tickets are $5 per person.  Reservations are suggested by calling 762-6300.

Presque Isle's First Friday Art Walk has been a fun tradition for four full years now.  Enjoy live music and art displays at a number of shops, cafes and galleries in the downtown area between 5 and 9 p.m.  Tasty food and good company.

Aroostook Relay For Life begins Friday at 6 pm with opening ceremonies at Caribou High School followed by a Survivors Lap Celebration. The Luminary Ceremony begins at 10 pm honoring survivors and remembering loved ones. Relay For Life is an overnight event that joins communities in the fight against cancer and raises funds for the American Cancer Society.

Saturday, June 7

Saturday features an Area-Wide Yard Sale in Presque Isle and  nearby communities.  Sponsored by The Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce.  Pick up a yard sale map and enjoy searching for some bargains!  Includes Presque Isle, Mapleton, Castle Hill, Chapman, Ashland, Portage Lake, Masardis, Oxbow, Washburn, Easton, Westfield, Mars Hill and Blaine.

The Aroostook Auction Barn is holding an auction Saturday morning featuring construction tools and equipment.  You can preview items starting at 8 a.m.  The auction begins at 10.  Situated at 102 Houlton Road in Easton.

On Saturday, birding enthusiasts will "take it to the refuge" as The County's popular birding festival moves to a new location -- Aroostook National Wildlife Refuge in Limestone.  This year's Northern Maine Bird Festival runs from 6a - 1p , rain or shine. Featuring guided bird walks, bird banding, activities for kids, plus a special demonstration on "Owls of Maine" with 3 live owls. Free admission.  FMI, check out AroostookBirders.com

Cornerstone Christian Academy's Cornerstone Classic at Presque Isle Country Club on Saturday Tee-off is at 9 a.m.  Four-person teams. The cost is $40 per player. Great prizes for winners plus closest to pin, long drive, a putting contest and hole-in-one prizes ($15,000 cash prize.) Contact the Presque Isle Country Club to register.

Join the Presque Isle Historical Society on Saturday for a 2 1/2 hour narrated tour of Presque Isle aboard Molly the Trolley.  The Star City's history includes true stories of spies, nuclear missiles, transatlantic balloon flights, POW camps, the 1959 national Christmas Tree, stage coaches, gold, a lynching, and much more.  Seats are limited and reservations are required.  Tickets are $5 per person.  Tour departs from the Historic Fire Station at 9:00 a.m.   Call 762-6300 to make a reservation, or 762-1151 for more information.

There will be a fundraising ATV Poker Run on Saturday to benefit the Fort Kent Lion's Club.  $15 per person.  Register in advance and get an extra draw.  Registration will be 9-10 a.m. The course starts and finishes at Rogers Sport Center and includes a Hot Dog feed. Cash prizes along with 3 door prizes & 50/50 raffle.

Area queens will be running an Alex’s Lemonade Stand & Bake Sale on Saturday from 10-2 in the  parking lot of Ben’s Trading Post in Presque Isle.  All money raised will be donated to the Children’s Cancer Foundation.

It's Aroostook Aspirations Day Saturday from 10-3 at the Aroostook Centre Mall.  Booths and activities for the whole family.  The event brings together local business, education, community, and family.  Announcement of the Gauvin Scholars and surprises are in store.

Tri-Aroostook Kids Swim Training will be held in Presque Isle on Saturday afternoon. It's designed for youth triathlon participants. Parents are encouraged to participate with their children. It starts at 1:00 p.m. in UMPI’s Gentile Hall. For more info, visit www.competitorme.com

Aroostook Roller Derby presents their First Bout Ever at the Forum in Presque Isle Saturday evening.  The hits are hard and real, the skating is fast, and the action is exciting.  The will be taking on the Breakwater Blackhearts, who hail from the Rock Coast Rollers! Tickets are $7 at the door. Kids 12 and under are free.  Doors open at 5:15 p.m., first whistle at 6:00.

 

Sunday, June 8

Cub Scout Pack 171 in Presque Isle will hold a recruit time for any boys wishing to join Cub Scouts on Sunday.  If your son is going into grade 1 through grade 5, they are invited to Mantle Lake Park in Presque Isle on Sunday from 2 - 5.  They can get registration information and play games with the boys and family members. The Ms. Auxiliary Pageant is a fun twist on pageantry Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Stockholm. The contestants are all Stockholm American Legion senior members.  They'll be judged on character portrayal, talent, gown competition.   Admission is $7 at the door.
