On this day in 1971, a duet reigned supreme on the country charts.  The song, ‘After the Fire Is Gone,’ was the first No.1 song from Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty.  It spent two weeks at the top and fourteen weeks on the chart.

Surprisingly, Little Texas only had one No.1 song.  That song, ‘My Love,’ reached the top on this day in 1994.  It was the third single from the album Big Time and featured keyboard player Brady Seals on lead vocals.

On this day in 1995, the current Mrs. Garth Brooks scored her third No.1 song with “Thinkin’ About You.”  Trisha Yearwood released the song, also the title of her album, as the album’s second single.

On this day in 1981, Hank ‘Bocephus’ Williams Jr. scored his third No.1 song with ‘Texas Women.’  It was his first No.1 in almost a decade and spent a week at the top, but ten weeks on the chart.

Clint Black had the No.1 song in the country on this day in 1993.  The song, “When My Ship Comes In,” was Black’s third and final single from his album The Hard Way.

Neal McCoy had his first No.1 song on this day in 1994 with ‘No Doubt About It.’  It was the title cut and breakthrough single from his third album, No Doubt About It.

On this day in 1990, Randy Travis had the No.1 song in country music with “Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart.”  It was the second song released from his album No Holdin’ Back.  The song spent four weeks in the top spot becoming the first song to accomplish that in twelve years.

Bo Duke had the No.1 song in the country on this day in 1986.  Well, he played Bo Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard, but John Schneider is also an accomplished country singer.  His song, ‘What’s a Memory Like You (Doing in a Love Like This),’ was the first single from his album A Memory Like You and his third No.1 song.

On this day in 1999, the Dixie Chicks’ ‘You Were Mine’ soared to the top of the charts.  The song comes from their major label debut Wide Open Spaces and it spent two weeks at No.1.

Ricky Skaggs had the No.1 country song in the country on this day in 1983.  Released as the second single from his Highways & Heartaches album, “I Wouldn’t Change You If I Could” was Skaggs’ fourth No.1 song.
