Madawaska town Manager Ryan Pelletier says a section of bricks fell from the side wall in early January onto an attached porch.  The section of sidewalk and parking spaces at at 300 Main Street were barricaded off while town officials contacted the property owner, Bertin Duperre.

On Saturday, January, 30,  Madawaska public safety personnel removed bricks from the top portion of the building. Duperre and his wife sold the building two days before that to Fitzroy Weatherspoon, but the parties reached an agreement with the town to cover the cost of the removal work and release the town from liability.

Weatherspoon is currently making plans for the repair and upgrade of the building.
