According to Madawaska Fire Chief Jim Soucy, the fire was reported at around 12 p.m. on the Number 7 paper machine at the mill.

Soucy says fire crews were able to quickly contain the blaze and stop it from spreading to any nearby floors, walls or ceilings. Firefighters remained on scene to take care of any flare-ups and to make sure the fire was fully extinguished.

No injuries were reported.

Along with the Madawaska Fire Department, Madwaska Police and ambulance crews assisted at the scene.
