RCMP Arrest Man in Connection with Drummond Kidnapping
West District RCMP have arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with a kidnapping that occurred on October 5.
According to police, Gilbert Thériault of Drummond was located and arrested in Plaster Rock, N.B. at around 1 p.m. Thursday.
The 62-year-old male victim made it to safety and sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention, said RCMP.
A Canada-wide warrant was issued for Thériault on October 8 in connection with the incident. He has been charged with using a firearm to kidnap the victim, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, uttering a death threat, injuring the victim's dog and extortion, police said.
Thériault remains in custody. A second suspect in the kidnapping was apprehended last week in Nova Scotia.
The investigation is continuing.
