State Police say Alexia Valente was driving a 1998 Nissan Sentra on the River Road not far from her home in Hiram Wednesday evening when she lost control on a curve.  The car went off the road and struck a tree on the driver’s side. Valente died at the scene.

Two passengers in the car, 17-year-old Christopher Eagles and 16-year-old Austin Lewis, both from Baldwin, were taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with non-life threatening injuries.

Trooper Tom Welch said speed was a factor in the crash. He said there was no indication that any of the teens were wearing their seat belts.
