Wreaths Across America Begins This Weekend in Maine
The week long trip from Maine to Arlington National Cemetery is about to begin.
The annual Wreaths Across America is loading up the tractor trailers full of wreaths for the annual trek,
to remember the fallen, honor those who serve, and teach the next generation the value of freedom.
This year there are 13 tractor trailers, and the journey begins on Saturday morning.
Here are the stops and times of each event across Maine.
Times can change due to unexpected delays but also can change to earlier times as well. So anyone planning to attend a stop, please be flexible.
Lubec
This will be a sunrise ceremony scheduled to begin at 6:53 a.m. lasting until 7:30 a.m.
Escort to Arlington will be at West Quoddy Head Light· Lubec. This begins the trek with the fresh balsam wreaths from Columbia Falls to the Washington D.C. area.
Calais
Saturday the 9th from 11 to 11:30 a.m., the tour is at the Calais Border Patrol Crossing, 180 International Avenue.
First stop on Sunday December 10th is Ellsworth
From 9:35 a.m. until 10:20 the Escort to Arlington visits Down East Family YMCA, at 238 State Street.
This is instead of outside at the Maine Coast Mall like in past years, and the ceremony will be held inside.
Sunday Continues in Belfast
The event in Belfast will be at Bank of America, 11 Schoodic Drive from 1:10 to 1:55 p.m.
Belfast also has a parade as part of their ceremony.
Next Stop Gardiner
This Sunday from 4:30 until 5 p.m. at Gardiner Regional Middle School
Then Portland
Cheverus High School in Portland will host the event from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
On Monday it'll be off to Massachusetts and beyond, until the following Saturday.
National Wreaths Across America Day ceremonies are planned at 4,000 locations around America on Saturday December 16th, and at Arlington wreaths will be placed beginning that morning, ending with a wreath that is laid at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Noon.
