Maine State Police Trooper Patrick Pescitelli responded to a burglary in progress at a residence in Blaine around 10:30 a.m. Police say a 14-year-old who was home at the time noticed a strange car in the driveway and then spotted a woman inside the house.

The woman allegedly traveled throughout both floors of the home, opening doors and rummaging through drawers while the teen remained hidden. Police say the teen photographed the vehicle and was able to obtain a plate number and contacted their parent. The parent returned home and met the intruder exiting the front door.

Trooper Pescitelli’s investigation was able to identify the suspect as Doris Tardy of Blaine. State police located the woman at her residence and arrested her for Burglary, Theft of Drugs and possession of Schedule W drugs (Oxycontin).

Police commended the 14-year-old for quick-thinking and for staying safe during the ordeal. Tardy is out on $500 bail and will appear in court in Houlton at a later date. The investigation is ongoing.
