When the Texas Longhorns hosted the Kansas Jayhawks football squad on Oct. 19, fans were thrilled by more than a last-second win by the home team. For the halftime show of a hotly contested game, the Longhorn Band paid tribute to home state star Kacey Musgraves with a rendition of "High Horse."

During the performance, the marching band spelled out "Grammy 2019," complete with a formation that resembled one of Musgraves' six career Grammy Awards; afterwards, they spelled out "Kacey." (Neither "yee" nor "haw" was written on the field, but both emotions were heavily implied.) It was the coolest college football tribute to country music since the Oklahoma State University marching band's 2017 nod to former student-athlete Garth Brooks and his definitive hit "Friends in Low Places."

"WOW -- this is as random as it is delightful...!!!," writes Musgraves on Twitter. "And thanks for spelling my name right."

Musgraves' disco-meets-country song "High Horse" didn't actually win a Grammy, unlike two other tracks off Golden Hour, "Space Cowboy" and "Rainbow," plus "Merry Go 'Round," from 2013's Same Trailer, Different ParkGolden Hour was also named Album of the Year at the 2019 Grammys.

During the same halftime show, the Longhorn Band paid tribute to a second Texas-born Grammy Award winner: The marching band also covered Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" and "Single Ladies."
