Twenty-year-old Marcus Asante of Fitchburg and 27-year-old Darin Goulding (hometown unknown) are being held on fugitive from justice charges in Massachusetts, according to State Police spokesman Steve MCausland. Once both are returned to Maine, they will be charged with murder in connection with the death of 31-year-old Douglas Morin of Oakfield whose body was found inside his vehicle along a remote road in Sherman on October 16.

The Maine Attorney General’s Office authorized the murder charges, McCausland said.  Asante was taken into custody on an unrelated charge in Fitchburg on Friday. Goulding was arrested Tuesday in Leominster, Mass.

A number of Massachusetts law enforcement agencies have assisted Maine State Police in the investigation.

State Police continue to investigate the homicide and no additional details are being released at this time, McCausland said.
