Trace Adkins is starring in an upcoming new movie, The Outsider, and The Boot has an exclusive sneak peek at the film. Readers can press play above to watch.

Starring Adkins, Sean Patrick Flanery, Jon Foo and Danny Trejo, The Outsider is a gritty drama that mixes classic Western and Eastern combat styles. The film tells the story of a railroad worker (Foo) who accidentally finds himself on the bad side of a corrupt group of lawmen and teams up with a disgraced former office (Flanery) to put a stop to their actions. Adkins portrays Marshal Walker, who is attempting to control things in town when a tragedy forces him to decide between his family and seeking justice.

In addition to Adkins, Flanery, Foo and Trejo, The Outsider also stars Kaiwi Lyman, Mitchell L. Johnson and Nelli Tsay. The movie was written by Sean Ryan and directed by Timothy Woodward Jr., and filmed partially at California's Paramount Ranch, before 2018's Woolsey Fire destroyed the iconic set.

"The Western genre holds a special place in my heart. Having another opportunity to work at an iconic location like Paramount Ranch was a dream come true. It was a sad day for Western fans, and a blow to the film community, when the ranch succumbed to the fires that devastated a big portion of the state last fall," Woodward Jr. says. "Despite it being one of our key locations for this project, the crew, cast and team really buckled down, got creative and worked through heat, wind and fire to bring this Western to life.”

Woodward Jr., Lauren de Normandie and Johnny Cleveland produced The Outsider, while Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, Joe Listhaus and Patrick DePeters were its executive producers. Press play below to see the full trailer for the movie, which will be out in select theaters and on demand on June 14.

Adkins has appeared in a number of movie and TV roles throughout the past decade. He last released a new album, Something's Going On, in 2017.
