The Savage Radley, ‘Worm (on Hot Pavement)’ Music Video [Exclusive Premiere]

Kentucky-based Americana act the Savage Radley are premiering the music video for their song “Worm (on Hot Pavement)” exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play above to watch.

The Savage Radley's "Worm (on Hot Pavement)" video features the band trying to soothe a heartbreak at the most cheery of places: a good ol’ county fair. Along with riding the rides, scoring an ice cream cone and doing plenty of people-watching, Shaina Goodman and S. Knox Montgomery play bumper cars while singing the lyrics to this upbeat song about feeling a little bitter about love gone wrong.

Referencing the lyric “You let our love die like a worm on hot pavement,” drummer Montgomery explains the "Worm (on Hot Pavement)" music video's setting: "Breaking up always sucks,” he says. “But friends and county fairs can sometimes make it a little better."

“Worm (on Hot Pavement)” appears on the Savage Radley’s newest album, Kudzu, released on June 30. The record is full of songs about life in the rural South and a childhood spent near the Mississippi River; its 10 tracks of electric, gritty, roots rock. Goodman and Montgomery recorded Kudzu in Paducah, Ky., with producer Skylar Wilson.
