The Bangor Symphony Orchestra Set To Take Us To A Galaxy Far Far Away…
Music makes most things better, in my experience, especially when it comes to films. The right score can take an ordinary movie and launch it out of this world.
Take composer John Williams, for instance. He has created music for some of the most iconic movies in the world, and in doing so, helped burn them into the consciousness of anyone who's ever seen them.
In fact I bet if you played just a few bars from any John Williams score, most of us could tell you exactly which movies those songs were from.
There might not be a more memorable movie score than the one Williams put together for the most famous space saga in the world: Star Wars.
Imagine what it must have felt like to be in the room with the orchestra as they first performed the Imperial March, as Darth Vader hit the screen!
Thanks to the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, we don't have to imagine that feeling, when can actually live it.
With tickets going on sale this Tuesday, the BSO is putting together a spectacular experience of both sight and sound coming our way next May. Under the direction of Conductor Lucas Richmond, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra will be performing the score of Star Wars: A New Hope as the movie plays along on a big screen at the Collins Center for the Arts.
According to their website, the event will take place, appropriately enough, over the weekend of May 3rd and May the 4th!
"The full feature film will be projected onto a large screen above the Orchestra at the Collins Center while you experience the full John Williams’ score, live!...This concert is currently available as an add-on to a subscription package. Call the box office for assistance, 207.581.1755. "
