Tractor Trailer Crash

The Maine State Police said a tractor trailer driver lost control of his big rig on Monday night on I-95.

Masardis Fire and Ambulance checked out Charmichael on the scene. He sustained minor injuries.

A loaded tractor-trailer that overturned as it was pulling onto Route 2 in Smyrna Wednesday afternoon forced the closure of the road for over 1 ½ hours.

Route 161 was shut down for about an hour and a half.

There were no injuries, and it's not known what caused the crash.

Both tractor trailers require removal by heavy wreckers.

The driver apparently lost control on a hill shortly before 8 a.m. and skidded off the road near Kinney's Flowers & Herbs.

Due to road conditions and the load of potatoes, the tractor trailer was not able to be towed out Monday night.

Police said the tractor trailer was leaning against the guard rail and wrapped around the Rt. 159 concrete bridge support on the southbound side of the Interstate.
