Easton beat Jonesport 58-42 to win the Class S North title and reach the state championship for the first time since 2016. The Bears forced 31 turnovers and outscored the Royals 37-16 in the second half, opening the fourth on a 14-0 run.
Wisdom beat Katahdin 41-26 to win the Class S girls regional title. The Lady Pioneers led 13-11 at halftime, Ava Lerman scored 21 as Wisdom advances to its first state final since 1998.
Northern Maine Championship Saturday is loaded with County teams in Bangor. Wisdom-Katahdin (10am), Easton-Jonesport (11:30), Madawaska-Machias (3:30), and Caribou-Fort Kent (8:30). Recaps and highlights all day.
Two tournament finals from yesterday’s recaps: Machias beat Central Aroostook 47-38 and Gardiner beat Presque Isle 46-29. Today, five County games are on 101.9 The Rock from 10:00 a.m. through the nightcap.
Day 6 was busy for County teams at the Maine tournament. Fort Kent won 75-45 behind Aden Jeffers’ 37, Hodgdon upset Bangor Christian 52-36, and Machias beat Central Aroostook 71-46. Tuesday schedule and gallery.
Penobscot Valley beat Southern Aroostook 73-19 in Bangor, leading 23-8 after one and 43-8 at halftime after a scoreless second quarter for the Lady Warriors. Rylee Moulton scored 21 for the Lady Howlers.
Presque Isle beat Hermon 48-37 in the Class B girls quarterfinal. Emily Collins scored 13 points as the Lady Wildcats reached the semifinals for the first time since 2022.
