A truly magical and unbelievable moment unfolded during the Presque Isle and Ellsworth girls' soccer playoff game on Tuesday night. An emotional and difficult week for the Presque Isle girls’ team as they found themselves helping teammates and friends grieve the unimaginable loss of their father way too soon.

The quarterfinal round in the Maine high school soccer playoffs began on Tuesday and will continue on Wednesday. Aroostook County teams were involved in several games on Tuesday with a handful advancing to the semifinal round in their classes.

A simple gesture on Tuesday will go a long way in showing support to a community grieving and help support two local families during a traumatic time. Presque Isle high school will be wearing purple to show support to Rhiauna Davenport as well as the family of Aaron Marston.

The preliminary round of the high school soccer playoffs was filled with excitement, close games, and a few upsets. Many teams from Aroostook County have advanced to the quarterfinals which will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

The high school soccer playoffs begin with the preliminary round being played on Friday and Saturday. Aroostook County is well represented with teams making the playoffs in Class B, C, and D.

Monday afternoon and evening was as close to perfect for soccer games played across Aroostook County. There were ten teams in action looking to get the final points they can and solidify their spot in the playoffs that start on Friday.

The regular season for high school soccer is set to close by Wednesday and playoffs will begin on Friday afternoon. There are games left to be played which could have a major impact on the final heal-point standings. Mother Nature is also wreaking havoc on plans with heavy rainfall expected to arrive on Tuesday and into Wednesday.

The Fort Fairfield Tigers girls’ and boys’ soccer teams played the MSSM Penguins under the lights on Thursday in a Class D North matchups. Both Fort Fairfield teams will make the playoffs, while the MSSM teams sit on the brink of a spot in the dance.
