Happy Independence Day America!!  Hopefully you’ll be seeing some fireworks tonight which goes great with today’s country classic.  On this day in 1992, Wynonna saw the second single from her debut album become her second solo No.1.  The song, ‘I Saw the Light,’ was ranked by Billboard as the No.1 country hit for that year.

Joe Stampley and Moe Bandy had a lot of success as a duo, but Stampley scored the No.1 song in country music as solo act on this day in 1976.  The song, ‘All These Things,’ was his third country No.1.

On this day in 1988, Tanya Tucker scored her ninth No.1 song with “If It Don’t Come Easy.”  The song was the third single from her album Love Me Like You Used To.  It spent a week at the top and fourteen weeks on the country chart.

On this day back in 1997, I married my wife.  Happy anniversary Babe!  It's no surprise that the No.1 country song in the country 16 years ago was "It's Your Love" by Tim McGraw & Faith Hill.  The song hit the top after being released only five weeks earlier and stayed there for a total of six weeks.

Canadian superstar Anne Murray scored the No.1 country song in America on this day in 1981.  “Blessed Are the Believers” was Murray’s sixth No.1 song on the country charts and peaked at No.34 on the Billboard Top 40.

Jerry Reed’s star grew even bigger when he made the role of ‘Snowman,’ the trucker from the Smokey and the Bandit movies, famous. Before that he was known as a singer, songwriter and consummate guitarist.  In 1971, Reed’s “When You’re Hot, You’re Hot” made it to No.1, becoming his most successful song.

On this day in 1988, the No.1 country song in the nation belonged to The Desert Rose Band.  The song, “He’s Back and I’m Blue,” was the third single from their namesake album.  It was the group’s fourth hit song but the first of two No.1’s.

On this day in 1995, Tracy Lawrence had the No.1 song in the country with “Texas Tornado.”  It was the third single from Lawrence’s album I See It Now, and was his sixth song to reach the top.

On this day in 1972, Donna Fargo had the No.1 song in the country with “The Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A.”  It was the title track from the album that went on to become Fargo’s highest-selling album in the country.

Country crooner and guitar wizard Steve Wariner released his album Life’s Highway in 1986.  A few months later, the title track became his fourth No.1 song.
