Two men were arrested Tuesday and charged with stealing a U-Haul, leading police on a high-speed chase and crashing into a FedEx truck in Winthrop.
Two Men Arrested in Stolen U-Haul after Crash
Police arrested 25-year-old Ronald Hinkley Jr. from North Monmouth and 31-year-old Robert Hermanson from Warren after the crash.
Van Driving Erratically
Officers tried to stop the U-Haul van on Route 202 in Monmouth around 1 pm after seeing the vehicle driving erratically.
Driver Fled from Police
Police found out the vehicle was stolen and saw the van again at 3:40 on Route 202 in Winthrop, said WGME News.
U-Haul Crashed in FedEx Truck
The vehicle fled at speeds exceeding 90 mph. The chase ended after the van crashed into a FedEx truck on Winthrop Center Road.
Woman Injured in FedEx Truck
The 59-year-old FedEx driver was injured and treated at the scene.
Arrested and Taken to Jail
Both men were apprehended and transported to the Kennebec County Jail.
