Around 7:30 Saturday evening, the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office received a report of a vehicle rollover on Main Street in St. Francis. Mitchell Roi, 19, of Bucksport, was driving south when he lost control of his 2002 Chevrolet pickup, according to Sheriff Darrell Crandall.

The roads were icy and slush-covered at the time. Roi's vehicle left the road, struck a snow bank and rolled over. Roi sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention, Crandall said. Four passengers in the truck were not injured. All of the occupants were wearing seat belts.

The pickup sustained major damage and was towed by Twin’s Service of Fort Kent. An ATV that was on the back of the truck was also damaged.

Sheriff Crandall said that traveling too fast for the road conditions is considered a major contributing factor in this crash.

Because of evidence discovered during the crash investigation, Mitchell Roi was charged with illegal transportation of liquor by a minor, Crandall said. Trevor Francis, 20, a passenger in the vehicle, was also charged with illegal possession of liquor.

Despite these alleged infractions, alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, Crandall said.
