Southern Maine Woman Sentenced to Probation for Mail Theft
A 71-year-old Saco woman was sentenced Monday to two years for probation for theft of mail. She'll also pay $1,230 in restitution.
Norma Duhamel stole mail containing bank checks and cashed about $1,125 worth. She also charged about $105 on the credit card she stole. The checks and credit card were taken from mailboxes of residents of Cumberland, Maine from August to October 2016, according to court records.
In pronouncing sentence, Judge Torresen warned Duhamel that if she repeated her behavior and violated the terms of her probation, the Judge guaranteed her a jail sentence.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service investigated the case.
