With Veterans Day approaching quickly, there are several different ways you can honor those who have served our country. Here are some suggestions:

  1. The Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou will hold a special ceremony to honor our Veterans, both past and present starting at 11am on Veterans Day. Veterans and their families are all invited to attend.
  2. If you happen to be traveling to Bangor on Veterans Day, stop by the Cole Land Transportation Museum as they will help to dedicate the Bangor World War II Memorial at 1:00pm followed by students from local schools reading their essays as a part of the 2012 Veteran Interview Program Essay Contest. Stay after the essays are read to hear a Patriotic Concert by the Bangor Band. It’s all free and your family will love it!
  3. On Monday, November 12th Bradley’s Citgo and Car Wash on North Street will provide free car washes to veterans and currently military service personnel, through the Grace for Vets FREE Wash Program. The event will run from 7am to 6pm that day, rain or shine.

Those are just a few of activities going on around our area for Veterans Day, but please take a moment to call those you know who have served or are currently serving, and just say "Thank you".
