Advance Auto Parts recently announced that it will be closing more than 700 locations nationwide. Specializing in car parts and accessories, Advance Auto Parts has been helping drivers keep their vehicles running smoothly since the 1930s. However, the company’s first major expansion didn’t occur until the late 1990s. Now, the retailer is leaving customers in Maine wondering if any of the state’s 20 locations will be affected.

A full list of the 700+ Advance Auto Parts locations slated for closure has yet to be released.

Advance Auto Parts stated that the closures are part of a broader plan to improve business performance. While the company has not yet released a comprehensive list of affected stores, most of the closures are expected to involve corporate-owned locations.

The decision follows the company’s latest quarterly report, which revealed a decline in profits.

According to USA Today, Advance Auto Parts plans to close over 700 stores and four distribution centers across the U.S. This includes more than 500 corporate-owned locations and approximately 200 independently-owned stores. The company says these closures are intended to streamline operations and strengthen its financial position.

As of November 2024, the retailer operates 4,935 stores nationwide, including 20 in Maine.
