Under Secretary Shulkin and other VA officials came to Caribou at the request of Maine’s congressional delegation. Congressman Poliquin and Senator Collins and the VA officials also participated in a town hall attended by local Veterans enrolled in VA programs in Aroostook County.

During the discussions, Under Secretary Shulkin indicated that the VA plans to extend the Access to Rural Health Care (ARCH) Program services in Aroostook County without requiring legislative action by Maine’s congressional delegation. Shulkin and other VA officials in the meeting explained that the VA currently has the authority to extend the services that the ARCH Program provides for Veterans in Aroostook County and is working to make that happen.
