Police say a white sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu, was traveling west on the South Shore Road around noontime on Friday, July 15, when a six-year-old boy ran out into the roadway. The vehicle struck the boy.  Witnesses said that the car was operated by an elderly woman, who stopped to check on the well-being of the child.

The boy’s grandmother took him to the hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

Troopers are asking for the public’s help to learn the identity of the driver. Police do not feel there was any ill-intent on the driver’s part, but need her information to complete the investigation.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Maine State Police Troop F at 207-532-5400 and ask for Trooper Travis Luce, the primary investigating officer.
