The RCMP is looking to speak with the driver of an all-terrain vehicle that was seen near the site of where a CN train went off the track near Plaster Rock earlier this week.

An ATV was observed near the tracks in Sisson Ridge during the overnight hours of Monday, May 9, according to Constable Jullie Rogers-Marsh of the RCMP in New Brunswick. It is described as an older model four-wheeler with very bright LED headlights. There was a basket on the front of the ATV that was either white or light-coloured, or possibly metal. The RCMP is asking the driver to contact police.

Shortly before 10:45 a.m. Monday, police responded to a report that a westbound CN train had gone off the track near the Sisson Ridge railway crossing. Eight rail cars jumped the track, but remained upright and intact.

The investigation, in collaboration with CN Police, has determined that a deliberate act was done to cause the derailment.

The RCMP continues to ask that anyone who has information about the incident to contact their local police or the RCMP at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267).

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at www.crimenb.ca, 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by texting TIP212 + your message to 'CRIMES' (274637). Any information that leads to the arrest of the person or persons responsible could qualify you for a $2,000 cash award.
