Trooper Tim Saucier investigated the Island Falls accident and found that 42-year-old, Kenneth Lawrence, lost control of his tractor trailer on I-95's icy roadway. The vehicle jackknifed with the trailer blocking both North lanes of traffic.

The interstate was shut down for over an hour and DOT assisted with re-routing traffic around the crash scene, said police.

The tractor trailer, owned by KDS Express out of Raleigh North Carolina, was towed from the scene due to disabling damage. No one was injured.

In addition to the Island Falls crash:

State Police responded to two other tractor trailers jackknifed or stuck on Route 11 near Soucy Hill and Route 163 in Mapleton, according to police.

Both Route 11 and Route 163 were closed temporarily so DOT could plow and put down additional ice melting substances.

State Police also responded to 7 other crashes involving passenger cars.  No one was injured in any of the incidents.

State Police ask people to drive slowly on their commute home.
