Police Investigate Maine Inmate Death
ALFRED, Maine (AP) — State police are investigating the death of a jail inmate who died the day after she was sentenced on charges of operating under the influence.
William King of the York County Sheriff's Office said 35-year-old Kimberly Pierce of Waterboro was found unresponsive on Tuesday morning at York County Jail.
Pierce was sentenced to two-and-a-half years with all but 60 days suspended on Monday.
King said Pierce's death does not appear to have been a suicide.
He said Pierce's cause of death will be determined by the state medical examiner's office.
